The month of April was a little more challenging to the golf course construction crew. While we have still been very blessed with the amount of progress made year to date, we did encounter 8 lost workdays and over 9" of moisture in the past month. Here is a recap of what we have accomplished during this stretch:
- Mass Earthwork/Excavation: Earthwork has been completed on holes #1-4, 9, 10 and 18. The last step for these 7 holes is to lay the topsoil. Another 7 holes are about half shaped. Soukup has begun digging out the main irrigation lake at the south end of the property. The lake will cover nearly 3 acres of surface area and is about 35% complete at this stage.
- Golf Course Construction: When Soukup finishes the earthwork, the team from Landscapes steps in with their shapers. During the past month we completed shaping on #7 green complex, including bunkers, 90% of holes 9, 10 and 13 as well. The team of nearly 50 laborers will be on site around May 20th for the remainder of the season. Finish shaping work along with drainage and irrigation system installation will be among the first priorities for the crew. Based on the current schedule, we anticipate the first grass to be planted in the middle of July.
- Facilities: The maintenance facility and clubhouse plans have been completed. We anticipate breaking ground first on the maintenance building in early June and then next on the clubhouse at the end of June.
