June 21st – August 1st , 2024
Since the rains subsided in late June, the project was met with ideal dry conditions over the last 40 days.
This has allowed for significant progress to occur throughout the entire site – both golf course and up atthe north end with the buildings. Here is a recap of the accomplishments:
- Golf Course Construction: Shaping of the golf course is over 80% completed. After the shapers
then by the crew working in the sand bunkers. Numerous holes are ready for grassing, a process
that will start here in the middle of August. The final touches have been put on the formal shaping
of the sand traps and the green complexes are being filled with their 12" of USGA sand mix.
When the grassing process begins, it will take about a week per hole. Prepping the seed beds,
install low-mow blue grass rough perimeters and then lay the seed in. With a mid-August target
for starting, we expect to get all 18 holes seeded by the end of October. If the fall weather doesn't
cooperate, a plan exists to dormant seed what we need to, which means we put the seed in the
ground and then cover it with a mesh and straw fabric for protection from moisture. The main
irrigation lake has been a tall task to dry out this summer. The good news is we are nearing the
finish line. The liner crew is scheduled to be here on August 7th to install the permanent liner in
the lake. The large intake pipe that will suck water from the lake and into the irrigation system has
already been installed. The pipes to bring water into the lake from each of the two well locations
are going in this week as well. Once grassing starts, we can expect to see growth in about 7-10
days. By early fall, the site should be beaming with areas of vibrant green bent and blue grasses.
- Building Facilities: Construction is underway on three of the initial four structures going up at
the building dried in and it is scheduled to be completed by mid-November. The clubhouse
footings have been poured, foundation backfilled and over the next few weeks the underground
utilities will be going in. The team from Fiegen will be working hard to get the clubhouse framed
and roofed by late November. Doing so will allow for dried in working conditions over the winter.
The cart storage building concrete slab was poured last week and it is following a similar
schedule as the maintenance facility – completion by mid-November. The last building, the golf
course halfway house, will get started later in August or early September with an expected
completion date of late fall.
